Our Qualifications Explained
Members of the Law, Insurance & Finance Translation Network are highly qualified and many are members of other professional bodies as well as the Institute of Translation and Interpreting. Below is a guide to some of the abbreviations used to describe our qualifications:
- MITI/FITI
- Member/Fellow of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting. This means that they have passed the ITI translation or interpreting assessment in the given language pair.
- FCIL, MCIL, ACIL
- Fellow, Member, Associate of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CL: Chartered Linguist)
- AIIC
- International Association of Conference Interpreters
- ASETRAD
- Asociación Española de Traductores, Correctores e Intérpretes
- ATA
- American Translators Association
- BDÜ
- Bundesverband der Dolmetscher und Übersetzer, a German professional body of translators and Interpreters
- NGTV
- Nederlands Genootschap van Tolken en Vertalers, the Dutch association of translators and interpreters
- SFT
- Société française des traducteurs, the equivalent French body
- SKTL
- Suomen kääntäjien ja tulkkien liitto (Finnish Association of Translators and Interpreters)
